The 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake is a one-off Shelby Mustang that achieved a record-breaking sale of $2.2 million, making it the most valuable Mustang ever sold at auction. Originally built by Carroll Shelby for Goodyear to conduct high-speed testing of their Thunderbolt tires, the car was engineered for performance and durability.
To accommodate the testing, the GT500 Super Snake was rebuilt with numerous aluminium parts to reduce weight and enhance speed. Under the hood, it was powered by a GT40 427 V8 engine, delivering immense power and making the car a formidable performance machine.
This unique Shelby Mustang remains a piece of automotive history, combining Shelby's legendary engineering with Goodyear's tire technology, and is considered one of the rarest and most iconic Mustangs ever produced.
