The 1983 Ford Falcon Grand Prix Dick Johnson Special was a unique, performance-focused version of the XE Falcon, featuring a turbocharged 4.1L inline-six engine. The cars started as Falcon S Packs from the factory, equipped with:
4-speed manual transmission
4-wheel disc brakes
Limited-slip differential
Once delivered to James Faneco’s ‘Country Dealer Team’ (CDT) factory in Scoresby, Victoria, they were modified into high-performance homologation specials, with:
Flared wheel arches
Front and rear spoilers
CDT tuning upgrades
Though 43 cars were built, they never officially raced, despite their original intent as homologation specials. The car bore the name of legendary Australian racer Dick Johnson, though his involvement was mostly in naming rights rather than development.
