2000 Hyundai NEOS

Unveiled at the 2000 Paris Mondial de l'Automobile, the NEOS (New Evolution Open Sports Car) concept by Hyundai redefines the sports car experience with its sophisticated design and cutting-edge features. Developed over 28 months by the HMC Japan Technology Research Center, this classic two-seater is powered by Hyundai's new 2.0-liter, 250-hp DOHC beta engine, coupled with a 6-speed continuous semi-automatic transmission.

Constructed primarily from aluminum, carbon fiber, and plastic, the NEOS exhibits an unconventional design that leaves some parts exposed, showcasing a blend of ultra-lightness and high functionality. The gull-wing doors, opening skyward, are secured and unlocked using an electronic card key, which also initiates the ignition. This integration of advanced technology aligns the NEOS with the digital age, setting it apart in terms of innovation.

Continuing the legacy of the Euro 1 concept roadster from 1998, created by Hyundai's design studio in Mainz-Kastel, Germany, the NEOS represents a shift in Hyundai's brand image. With features like a 6-speed sequential gearbox, a powerful 2-liter 250-horsepower engine, and beetle wing doors, this roadster challenges stereotypes, presenting a stylish, harmonious design coupled with impeccable workmanship.

In summary, the Hyundai NEOS emerges as a testament to Hyundai's commitment to pushing boundaries, offering a high-speed roadster that breaks free from traditional perceptions.
