The 2000 Renault Modus 2 Concept was a forward-thinking minivan design study that emphasized practicality and innovative passenger access. Unlike the earlier Modus Concept, this second iteration featured a utilitarian approach with a distinctive design language. It was characterized by arc-shaped windows, which contributed to a modern, spacious aesthetic while enhancing visibility for passengers.
One of its most notable features was the rear-door passenger entry, a departure from conventional minivan designs. This design choice aimed to improve accessibility and ease of use, reinforcing Renault’s commitment to practical mobility solutions. The Modus 2 was conceived as a versatile urban vehicle, focusing on efficient space utilization and functionality rather than following traditional MPV styling.
Despite its name, the Modus 2 Concept had little connection to the production Renault Modus hatchback introduced in 2004. While both shared a focus on compact practicality, the production Modus took a more conventional form as a small MPV based on the Clio platform, whereas the Modus 2 Concept explored a more radical minivan-oriented design philosophy. This early concept reflected Renault’s experimental approach at the time, pushing the boundaries of passenger convenience, visibility, and space efficiency in a compact form factor.
