In 2001, the AC Car Group, led by Alan Lubrinsky in Weybridge, Surrey, introduced a fresh design concept for a prototype two-seat coupe known as the AC Mamba. The envisioned power options for this coupe included a Ford Australia straight 6-cylinder 4.0-liter engine, capable of producing 230 horsepower and designed to run on bio-fuel. Alternatively, a twin-turbo 3.5-liter Lotus V8 engine with a power output of 350 horsepower was also considered. Both manual and automatic transmission variants were envisioned for the Mamba.
Despite the promising initial design and powertrain options, the AC Mamba project did not progress beyond the prototype stage. Unfortunately, the specifications for the vehicle were not officially confirmed, and only one mock-up vehicle was produced. Regrettably, this lone prototype eventually met its demise and was subsequently scrapped. The AC Mamba, although remaining a concept, provides a glimpse into the ambitious automotive ideas that were explored during its brief existence.
