2002 Dodge Ram SRT10 Concept

The Dodge Ram SRT-10, a sport pickup truck, emerged as a bold and formidable contender in the automotive landscape, with only 10,046 units built. Initially showcased as a concept at the January 2002 North American International Auto Show, the production model debuted in 2003 as a 2004 model-year vehicle. At the 2002 Detroit Motorshow, Dodge unveiled the awe-inspiring Viper-powered Dodge Ram SRT-10 show truck, signaling a new era of performance in full-size pickups.

Underneath the hood of the Ram SRT-10 roared the mighty 8.3-liter V-10 engine, derived from the powerhouse that propelled America's ultimate sports car, the 2003 Dodge Viper. With an unparalleled horsepower rating, this V-10 engine propelled the Ram SRT-10 to new heights, surpassing not only other pickups but also many production sports cars on the road.

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 was part of a trio of 'extreme performance' models from the Dodge brand, alongside the SRT-4 and Viper, all bearing the SRT-10 name. These models were the brainchild of Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO), a newly formed entity that brought together expertise from Chrysler Group's specialty vehicle division, Mopar parts business, and motorsports operations. The seasoned engineers behind iconic vehicles like the Dodge Viper and Chrysler Prowler were instrumental in the development of these performance beasts.

Harnessing the expertise gained from Mercedes-AMG's high-end conversion experience, PVO was tasked with creating extreme-performance vehicles not only for Dodge but also for Jeep and Chrysler brand product lines. The Ram SRT-10's immense power was transmitted through a Viper six-speed manual transmission, seamlessly connecting to a modified differential and new driveshaft. With an estimated acceleration of sixty mph in just 5.0 seconds and a top speed reaching an estimated 150 mph, the Ram SRT-10 showcased its dominance on the road. Moreover, it conquered the 0-100-0 mph dash in an estimated 18 seconds, a testament to its exceptional performance capabilities.

Inside the cabin, the Ram SRT-10 exuded a performance-oriented ambiance, featuring red-piped leather accents and carbon fiber-look elements that complemented its aggressive exterior styling. The interior retained the best-in-class spaciousness of the standard Ram, while silver-faced gauges with Viper font and graphics underscored the vehicle's high-performance pedigree, delivering a visceral driving experience unparalleled in its class.
