The Daihatsu D-Bone Concept is a stripped-down, skeletal vision of what a Japanese micro-car could become when all non-essential elements are removed. This tiny four-wheel-drive, four-seater, open-air off-roader concept boasts frogeye headlights and a metal-finish exoskeleton, resembling a hybrid of a Euro-market Smart city car and a Myers Manx dune buggy.
Unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show as part of Daihatsu's "wonderful small vehicles - the future form" theme, the D-Bone stands out among a variety of innovative and compact concept cars. Daihatsu affectionately calls the D-Bone its "rude boy," promising that this minimalist dune buggy will "set you free"—at least until the rain starts.
The D-Bone's design is a harmonious blend of circles and lines, showcasing metallic textures alongside sand and water-resistant flooring and seat upholstery, ensuring durability and resilience in various environments. Radical design features, such as buggy-style lamps and cycle fenders, highlight its playful and adventurous spirit.
Under the hood, the D-Bone is powered by a 656-cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine, coupled with four-wheel drive, delivering an exhilarating open-air sports car experience. This concept car emphasizes freedom and fun, offering a unique and adventurous ride.
