The 2004 Chevrolet SoCal SSR Push Truck was a high-performance support vehicle developed by GM Performance in collaboration with the SoCal Speed Shop. Designed specifically for the 2004 Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Record, this custom-built SSR was engineered to function as a push truck, helping speed-record vehicles launch on the salt.
Under the hood, it featured a developmental GM Powertrain Gen IV 6.0-liter aluminum V8, producing 390 horsepower, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The combination of power and torque made it ideal for its role, ensuring that land-speed racers got up to speed efficiently. With its distinctive styling and racing pedigree, the SoCal SSR Push Truck embodied a fusion of hot rod heritage and modern GM engineering.
