Citroën has unveiled a unique version of its electric microcar, the Ami, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rubik’s Cube. This one-off edition, named the Citroën Ami '50 Anni Rubik's,' was showcased at Milan Design Week, an event that draws attention to innovative design and creativity. The special edition Ami commemorates the iconic puzzle invented by Ernő Rubik, which has captivated minds globally since 1974.
In collaboration with the toy company SpinMaster, Citroën has designed the Ami Rubik to feature a striking exterior that pays homage to the classic Rubik’s Cube. The vehicle's front and rear sections are painted black, while the sides display the vibrant colors synonymous with the puzzle: yellow, orange, blue, green, red, and white. Additionally, the Ami Rubik is adorned with several stickers that enhance its playful aesthetic.
Despite the bold exterior, the interior of the Citroën Ami remains unchanged from the standard model, although it does include several actual Rubik’s Cubes for added thematic consistency. This integration of the Rubik’s Cube into the vehicle’s design highlights Citroën’s commitment to celebrating creativity and engaging with iconic cultural symbols.
As of now, Citroën has not disclosed whether the Ami Rubik will be available for purchase or if it will remain a unique showcase piece. The unveiling at Milan Design Week serves as a celebration of both the Rubik’s Cube’s legacy and Citroën’s innovative approach to design.
