2024 Fiat Grande Panda

Fiat has unveiled the new Grande Panda, a fresh addition to the Panda lineup that will be available with both fully electric and hybrid powertrains. This new model sits above the current Panda range, which will continue to be produced. The Grande Panda is built on the affordable CMP Smart Car platform, known for its versatility and efficiency. This new model revitalizes the legendary Panda name with a design that Fiat describes as "iconic and ironic Italian."

The Grande Panda measures 3.99 meters in length, and although Fiat has not released detailed technical specifications, the car is expected to share many features with other models based on the CMP Smart Car platform, such as the Citroën ë-C3 and the electric Opel Frontera. The Grande Panda is likely to feature a 44 kWh battery with LFP cells from SVOLT, providing a range of approximately 320 kilometers, and an 83 kW electric motor. The DC charging capacity is expected to peak at 100 kW, allowing for a charging time of 26 minutes from 20% to 80%. For AC charging, an 11 kW onboard charger will be included, enabling a full charge in around four hours.

Fiat emphasizes the strategic importance of the Grande Panda in their press release, highlighting its role in Fiat's transition from local-based production to a global offering. Initially launching in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the Grande Panda marks the beginning of Fiat's expansion using a common global platform. This model is part of Fiat's broader electric future, which includes a range of vehicles such as fastbacks and pickups based on the same platform, aimed at various markets including South America.

The design of the Grande Panda draws inspiration from the original Fiat Panda, featuring compact dimensions, good interior space, and a silhouette that pays homage to its predecessor. Key design elements include angular headlights, orthogonal lines, and a square mesh arrangement that gives the car a sleek and strong look. The rear of the vehicle is characterized by prominent wheel arches, an inclined window layout, and robust skids, enhancing its protective and stable appearance. Black, square elements in the C-pillars create a 3D effect that reveals the Fiat logo from different angles.

Olivier Francois, CEO of the Fiat brand and Global CMO of Stellantis emphasizes the Grande Panda's suitability for families and urban environments worldwide, noting that it symbolizes Fiat's future direction. While Fiat has yet to announce the exact pricing and market launch date for the Grande Panda in Europe, it is expected to be priced similarly to its French sister model, starting at around 23,000 euros. This new model aims to provide an affordable, practical, and stylish option for families and urban commuters, continuing Fiat's tradition of producing accessible and versatile vehicles.
