Stellantis has brought back the Frontera name for its new 2024 C-segment compact crossover, which will be available in both electric and hybrid versions. The original Opel Frontera was a badge-engineered version of the Isuzu MU/Rodeo, dating back to the period when both Isuzu and Opel were under the General Motors umbrella.
The new Frontera is a modern interpretation of its predecessor, based on the Citroën C3 Aircross, and it utilizes the Stellantis CMP Smart Car Platform. This versatile platform is also employed by other Stellantis brands, including Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Peugeot. This shared architecture allows for a range of powertrains and technologies to be offered across the various models.
In the UK, the Frontera will be sold under the Vauxhall brand, retaining the name it used in the past. The new Frontera aims to capture the essence of the original while providing the benefits of modern engineering and design, including improved efficiency, advanced safety features, and the latest in-car technology.
With the availability of both electric and hybrid powertrains, the 2024 Opel Frontera is poised to appeal to a wide range of consumers looking for a compact crossover with the flexibility and environmental credentials that meet today’s demands.
