The 2024 Scout Terra Prototype marks the revival of the iconic Scout model name, developed by Volkswagen in the U.S. to pay homage to International Harvester’s classic off-road lineup, which retired 44 years ago. This production-ready concept previews the new all-electric Scout, set to launch in 2026 as a rugged yet modern electric pick-up. Available in both a fully electric (BEV) and an extended-range (EREV) variant, the Scout Terra offers options for adventure and utility alike.
The extended-range version, called the Scout Harvester, incorporates a compact combustion engine dedicated to recharging the high-voltage battery, providing additional range for longer journeys. Volkswagen’s goal with the Terra is to combine the toughness and off-road capability that the Scout name is known for with contemporary electric technology, setting it up as a versatile player in the growing electric truck market.
