The Bluebird Kiwami, created by third-year students in the Auto Body Master Course at Nissan Aichi Automobile Technical College, is a testament to the students' dedication and creativity. Despite having only 2.5 months to complete the project, the students poured their passion into this car, making it a powerful example of their skills. Using the PU11 Bluebird Maxima, a top-tier model from 36 years ago, as the base, they crafted a vehicle that combines luxury with sportiness, aiming to redefine the idea of a modern luxury car for younger drivers.
The PU11 Bluebird Maxima, known for its 4-door hardtop body without a center pillar, was a symbol of luxury in its time, offering a spacious interior and a refined driving experience. By choosing the name “Kiwami,” meaning “ultimate” in Japanese, the students expressed their commitment to perfecting every aspect of the car, from the exterior to the interior and the driving dynamics. This car was designed to capture the essence of Nissan’s DNA while adding a fresh, youthful twist that appeals to Gen Z drivers.
The Bluebird Kiwami is a blend of luxury and sportiness, targeted at young drivers who enjoy making memories with friends on the road. Its body color, ‘Aurora Flare Blue Pearl,’ was chosen to evoke images of the sea and clear blue skies, reflecting an active and youthful vibe. The students’ vision was to create a luxury car that didn’t just provide comfort but also offered an exciting and engaging driving experience.
Even with the tight production period, the students managed to create a car that exudes personality and passion, with the Bluebird Kiwami standing as a symbol of the talent and ambition of the next generation of automotive designers. This project showcases what happens when creativity meets craftsmanship, and it’s clear that the Bluebird Kiwami is much more than just a student project—it’s a bold statement about the future of automotive design.
