The Renault Sport Spider Preserial from 1995 was a prototype that laid the groundwork for Renault’s production of the Sport Spider, a lightweight, track-oriented sports car. This preserial version was finished in Sport Red, a color exclusive to the prototype, while the production models were offered in Sport Yellow, Sport Blue, and Titanium Grey, all featuring a contrasting rear panel in Fjord Grey.
Initially, the production version of the Sport Spider was equipped with an aeroscreen for wind protection, enhancing its track-ready appeal. In 1997, Renault introduced an option with a full glass windscreen and wiper, providing more practicality for road use. This model is celebrated for its minimalist, driver-focused design, using an aluminum chassis and weighing just under 1,000 kg, with a mid-mounted 2.0L four-cylinder engine.
