The Porsche NEBULA 928 Art Car Concept, unveiled in 2023, is a stunning reimagination of the 1978 Porsche 928 by contemporary artist Daniel Arsham, showcased at the Porsche X space during SXSW. This unique art car fuses the world of fine art with automotive design, breathing new life into the classic Porsche 928 with a futuristic and sculptural approach.
Arsham, known for his immersive, concept-driven works, brought his signature style to the 928, transforming it into a work of art that explores themes of time, decay, and transformation. The body of the car has been reworked with a series of sculptural elements, making it look as though the vehicle is being reclaimed by the passage of time, with cracking and eroding surfaces that play with perceptions of past and future.
The front and rear bumpers were redesigned with the help of vehicle designer Khyzyl Saleem, who contributed his expertise to ensure the art car remained grounded in automotive performance while embracing its avant-garde aesthetic. The bumpers now reflect a more angular, aggressive style, adding to the car’s striking visual appeal and creating a seamless blend of art and engineering.
